Stuart Dallas says Leeds want to win Championship title to silence doubters

In an interview with TalkSPORT, Stuart Dallas has said that Leeds United players are determined to win the Championship title this season to prove their doubters wrong.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have remained in the top two for most of the current campaign and they are presently second on the table with a seven-point advantage over third-placed Fulham.

As a result, they are in a good position to secure automatic promotion to the top-flight with eight games to play and Dallas insists that the players are also determined to win the league title.

“I think it’s great, I love it!. It’s a ‘No one likes us, we don’t care’ sort of thing,” He told.

“As I said, it comes with the club we are playing for. Everybody knows how big a club Leeds is and we are there.

“We saw it last year, we saw the people enjoy the way we were feeling last year and that spurs us on.”

Leeds won five league games on the bounce and they were at the top of the standings in March before the season was temporarily suspended because of the coronavirus outbreak.

They resumed their campaign last weekend with a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Cardiff City and that saw West Bromwich Albion leapfrog them to the first place on goal difference after their 0-0 draw against Birmingham City.

The Peacocks are scheduled to host Fulham at Elland Road this weekend and they have the opportunity to enhance their title and promotion prospects by getting the better of the west London outfit.

Leeds have not tasted top-flight football since their relegation 16 years ago. They have come close to promotion through the play-offs on a few occasions and the fans will be hoping that the club can sustain their place in the top two to earn a guarantee spot in next season’s Premier League.
