Championship 2020/21: Three games to watch in Matchday 10

Championship leaders Reading recently stumbled to their first defeat of the campaign against Coventry City on the road, but they continue to remain top of the table with a comfortable four-point lead over Swansea City.

The Royals will be aiming to return to winning ways against Preston North End at the Madejski Stadium on Wednesday night, but there are several more interesting encounters to watch out for in Matchday 10.

Three games to watch in Matchday 10:

Huddersfield Town vs Bristol City – November 3: The Terriers recently ended a two-match losing streak as they registered an impressive 3-0 triumph over Millwall on the road. That has seen them jump to 12th on the table and they are just two points adrift of the play-off positions. Bristol, meanwhile, are one point and two places above them in the standings, but their form has been concerning. Dean Holden’s side have not been helped with injuries to key players and they are presently winless in five games with just two points gained. Bristol have had the upper hand in the past seven meetings against the hosts with five wins to two and they will be hoping for a change in fortunes at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Bournemouth – November 3: Wednesday started the season on minus 12 points after they were found guilty of breaching the profit and sustainability rules for the 2017/18 campaign. The club managed to reduce the deficit to -4 earlier last month, but their form has since been woeful. Garry Monk’s side have suffered four successive defeats with the recent being against Wycombe Wanderers, who registered their maiden win in the division. Up next, they are scheduled to host third-placed Bournemouth and it will be a difficult challenge for them. The Cherries are the only unbeaten side in the Football League, but they have registered four stalemates in the past five matches. Elsewhere, Wednesday have failed to score in three successive games and will need to show an improvement to pick up a positive result.

Norwich City vs Millwall – November 3: The Canaries are certainly the in-form team in the Championship, but they have had some good fortune along the way. The Canaries won by a comfortable 3-1 scoreline at Bristol City last weekend, but prior to that, they scored winners against Rotherham United, Birmingham City and Wycombe on or after the 87th minute while their equalising goal at Brentford also came during the same period. They are currently one point adrift of second-placed Swansea whom they host at the weekend. Daniel Farke’s side will come up against Millwall on Tuesday night, who have proved tough to beat on the road. The south London side are just two points behind them in the standings in seventh, and have picked up three of their four wins away from home this term.
